A $100,000 salary is a major milestone in most of the country. In New York City, it is a baseline for living without roommates in an outer-borough, non-luxury building.
The math is brutal: A $100,000 gross salary yields roughly $5,600 a month in net take-home pay after Federal, State, City, and Payroll taxes (and this ignores 401k or healthcare deductions).
